Ghazni ( Ghajini ) and Rajendra Chola

Mohmud of Ghazni was the most promienent ruler in Afganisthan. He has started raiding India in about 1008. During his rule, he invaded and plundered parts of Hindustan (east of the Indus River) 17 times.
He has raided many cities Nagarkot, Thanesar, Mathura, Kannauj, Kalinjar and Somnath and theie temples. Mahmud's armies stripped the temples of their wealth and then destroyed them at, Maheshwar, Jwalamukhi, Narunkot and Dwarka .

At the same time in east part of India, the great Rajendra Chola was victoriously progressing towards Bengal, after defeating Kalinga ( Modern Odisha ).

As fate would have it, both the armies did not meet. Had the Chola made his progression towards west India after reaching Kalinga, the history would have been different.Refer ::Expedition to Ganges ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajendra_Chola_I ).
